The Inauguration

An excellent start in the new season!

The reopening of the "new" Flensburger Yacht-Service took place on April 12th and 13th. This second weekend in April was eagerly awaited by customers, FYS crew and the owner Jan Opländer. The opening was a great success.

For a long time the Flensburger Yacht-Service has been an institution in the maritime scene. This is not only the case in Flensburg but also in the wider surroundings and in southern Denmark. Due to the take-over by  Jan Opländer (Citizen of Dortmund), the Flensburger Yacht-Service had gone through a renovation of its shop building  over the winter months.

Water sportsmen will still find everything what they need for themselves and their boat, and everything is in the usual best quality with the usual competent advice  - but since the reopening, in an unusual generous ambiance: salesroom and workshop go now without separation into one another. There is a new, ten meter long workbench at which ropes can be spliced and wire-cables can be pressed in front of the customers.

The exposed keel pit in the old boat-building hall was an eye-catcher and topic of conversation at the opening weekend. Nevertheless many visitors had doubts to pass over the glass bottom of the nicely decorated keel pit which is covered with bulletproof glass. The new sales bar was also gazed at in admiration: Many adepts were also astonished by the new bar: A copy of a Park Avenue boom made of mahogany with glass cover illuminated from the inside.

With free parking spaces right outside the door and the clothing, footwear and boots offers, displayed now directly at the entrance, will for sure attract even more prospects for "outdoor clothing" to the Flensburger Yacht-Service. Thus, for example, more modern and functional shoes from Sebago and sophisticated, perfectly fitting clothing from Musto and Gill will therefore also be seen outside marinas and away from motor and sailing boats. Also because these companies turn now more than ever towards fashion industry and incorporate the fashion trends into their classical collections. Many of the new outdoor clothings were already sold during the opening weekend.

For many guests the opening days were also a "get-together under friends". Some knew each other and others came with family and enjoyed the barbeque, drinks and the kids were able to participate in a drawing contest competition or have a jolly good romp at the bouncy castle. Especially on Sunday many visitors came from Denmark, who used the opening ceremony as a family excursion.

The conclusion of the managing director Jan Opländer: "My crew here in Flensburg did an excellent job during the winter months".The reconstruction was organized, monitored and takled with an enormous commitment. Everything became ready on time and the opening was an excellent start into the new season. Now we are looking forward to accompany our clients with our product range in their hobbies".

"Are there future plans for the Flensburger Yacht-Service?" Jan Opländer: "Since we are a maritime full service company with its own harbour, we want to expand our offer with motorboats". We now start with the well-known Frauscher motorboats, which do by the way also have a base in Port Adriano, Mallorca exactly like our Nautor's Swan sailing yachts".

In any case the different aspects of the new Flensburger Yacht-Service has one thing in common: The nautical shop, the shipyard, winter storage, Nautor Swan Yachts and now also the new Frauscher motorboats - everything is designed to satisfy the highest quality standard.
